Act I: THE TOMTEN’S CHRISTMAS written by Duncan McGregor

The story is based on the Swedish folklore of the elf-like Tomten. This play is set on the farm of a Swedish family who will be celebrating Christmas for the first time in Canada one hundred years ago.

Act II: LIBBY’S CHRISTMAS EVE ADVENTURE adapted from a story by Russell E. Erickson

Libby is a toad. She lives with her grandmother near a forest and pond. It’s Christmas Eve. Before Christmas supper, Libby decides to go skating on the pond. It hasn’t started to snow yet so the skating will be perfect. She meets Bartholomew Mole who’s on his way to his sister’s house for Christmas but because he has sight problems, he’s become lost. Libby volunteers to help him but on their way, it starts to snow which turns into a blizzard. Now they’re both lost. They shelter in a cave where there lives a bear who does not have the Christmas spirit. Through their adventures with the Bear, and their struggles to get to their homes in time for Christmas, the story of Libby’s Christmas Eve Adventure is non-stop excitement for all, including the bear.

Two warm, energetic and funny Christmas plays for children 4-104! (and their families, of course).

These delightful short plays feature elf and animal heroes, puppets, music, and much more. A wonderful celebration of the joy and magic of the festive season!
