Jennifer
A. Black
has been directing Children's Theatre in Goderich
since 1986. Born and educated in England, drama has been a part of
her life since age 5.
Her love of children and passion for the
theatre led her to begin passing her theatrical knowledge on
to youth, especially those in the 6 to 11 year old age
group.
Many of these children have gone on to win public speaking
contests, appear in professional theatre productions in Blyth and
Grand Bend, one young man appeared in CBC movies and others have
gone even further to professional drama schools (i.e. RADA / New
York Academy.)
The
objective of her program is to enhance a child's imagination,
sensitivity and creative expression through pantomime,
improvisation, movement, speech exercises and of course dramatics.
All programs end with a public performance.
Her favourite memories:
"When a
child phones you years later and thanks you for introducing them
to the theatrical world."
Her
favourite quote from one child:
"I hope there is a talent
scout in the audience !!!"
